Don’t Lose Your Identity
The Righteous Shall Flourish: Lessons Part 6 (P6) from the Book of Ps 92:12-14 – DON’T LOSE YOUR IDENTITY
“The Righteous shall flourish like the Palm tree: He shall grow like a Cedar in Lebanon” (Psalms 92:12). That is our Scripture text for today.
Again, digesting the characteristics of a Cedar tree, it is remarkably noteworthy that the Cedar tree is neither the world’s tallest tree nor the world’s largest tree. However, a Cedar tree possesses several qualities that the world’s largest and tallest trees do not have. In other words, the Cedar tree is not the largest or tallest but it is one of the most relevant trees that have ever existed.
Now in our text Scripture, the Psalmist likened the Righteous to a Cedar tree. The Psalmist likened the Righteous to a tree that doesn’t rank among the famous tree, but nevertheless has qualities that trees at the top end don’t have. The Psalmist didn’t liken the Righteous to the world’s largest or tallest tree, but he likened him to a supremely unique tree.
Beloved, isn’t it amazing that in life, we often desire to be like others, and we end up setting aside our peculiarity and uniqueness? We desire heights that other people have attained, we desire wealth that others have achieved; we long for positions that others are occupying; we long for other people’s strengths, and sometimes, we forget our own ‘God’ given strengths and potentials in the process (Ps 139:14).
Today, hear God’s proclamation to you: You are unique. You are gifted. You are the very best just the way you are. Your peculiarity is your selling point that you can’t acquire anywhere. You may think others are better than you; just maybe, they are also craving to be like you. You may think your strengths are not strong enough, but unknown to you, someone is wishing to be like you.
Step out in faith and activate your God given strength; You are unique (Ps 139:14)! Don’t lose your identity (Gen 1:27). Your uniqueness in Him adds flavour to the Kingdom (Gal 3:28).
